Türkiye's Ministry of Youth and Sports opened applications for public higher-education dormitories for the 2026-2027 academic year on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. According to the ministry, eligible students may apply through the e-Government portal until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 29. The current window covers students newly enrolled in formal university programs and continuing students who meet the announced registration conditions.
Application dates and eligible groups
The ministry's detailed notice, dated August 19, set the opening time at 10:00 a.m. on August 25. The online window will remain available for four days and close at 11:59 p.m. on August 29. Students registering for the first time in a formal higher-education program between August 24 and August 28 are included. Continuing students who were registered in a formal program before June 30, 2026 may also apply during this round.
A separate schedule will apply to students admitted through additional placement, students making horizontal or vertical transfers, special-talent entrants, postgraduate students, those who have exceeded the standard duration of study and people beginning a second university degree. The ministry said applications from these groups will be collected later, after their higher-education registration procedures are completed. Students outside the current window should therefore wait for a new official announcement rather than assume the August 29 deadline applies to them.
How applications will be assessed
Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak said applicants will provide declarations about their social and economic circumstances. After the application period closes, the information will be reviewed in coordination with 12 public institutions and agencies. Family income, social circumstances and academic achievement will be among the criteria used to determine each student's position in the placement process.
The verification network listed by the ministry includes the Council of Higher Education, the national examination authority ÖSYM, the General Directorate of Sports Services, and the ministries responsible for family and social services, health, justice and national education. The Revenue Administration, Social Security Institution, General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre, General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs, and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities are also included.
What applicants should check
Because applications are accepted only through the e-Government portal, students should confirm that they can access their accounts and that their contact details are current before starting the form. Information entered in the application should match official records. That consistency matters because the ministry has explicitly described a review process involving data checks across multiple public bodies.
After submitting the form, applicants should verify that the application record appears correctly and monitor official ministry and e-Government channels for later announcements. The ministry has not given a definite date for publication of placement results in the material reviewed for this report. Claims circulating on social media about a specific result date should therefore not be treated as confirmed unless they are supported by a new official notice.
