Türkiye’s 2026 Special Talent Examination for university sports sciences programmes begins on August 15. According to the calendar and guide published by ÖSYM, the testing period continues through August 18. Anadolu Agency, citing an ÖSYM announcement, reported that the examination will be conducted in six sessions across 44 test centres in 36 provinces.
Six sessions across four days
Morning sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon sessions are scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session has an announced duration of 210 minutes. A total of 221 buildings will be used, with approximately 7,370 officials assigned. Admission documents showing test locations are available through ÖSYM’s Candidate Transactions System.
Known as ÖZYES, the centrally organized test is used to select and place students in sports sciences programmes. It takes the form of a physical proficiency test. Candidates receive two attempts, and their better performance is used in the assessment. The same procedure applies to candidates with disabilities.
More than 24,000 applications
ÖSYM President Bayram Ali Ersoy said 24,381 candidates applied. The total includes 16,202 male and 8,179 female candidates, along with 148 candidates with disabilities and 1,063 national-level athletes. The authority said 83 applicants qualifying as veterans or as spouses and children of veterans and fallen service members were exempted from the fee.
The official calendar lists September 9, 2026, as the planned result date. Placement rights obtained through the results apply only to the 2026-2027 academic year. Both the calendar and guide published by ÖSYM carry those dates.
Identity-document arrangements
ÖSYM issued a separate notice for candidates who have lost identity cards or whose documents do not meet admission requirements. Designated population offices will remain open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on August 15 and 16. After checks, eligible applicants can receive an authenticated temporary identity document carrying a photograph.
Candidates using this service must bring their examination admission document and a biometric photograph. ÖSYM says the temporary identity document produced through this process can be used for entry, while other temporary documents will not be accepted. Information candidates should verify
Each candidate’s assigned centre, building and session appear on the personal admission document, so a general report does not replace that record. The calendar, guide and admission document are the official references. The identity arrangement applies only to the circumstances and hours specified in the notice.
Morning and afternoon sessions have different start and finish times. Candidates therefore need to rely on the session listed on their own documents. The four-day examination window does not mean every participant attends on every day; the assigned date and centre are confirmed through the personal admission record.
ÖSYM said equipment and software used for the central examination were developed after about a year of work. The authority’s president said officials had received the required training and preparations were complete. This report does not add unsupported details about the system’s technical operation.
