Türkiye’s agricultural input price index showed that the annual rise in production costs remained substantial in June 2026, even as the headline measure declined from the previous month. Data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on August 20 showed the Agriculture Input Price Index, known as Agriculture-IPI, falling 0.92 percent month on month and rising 32.06 percent from June 2025. The index was also 16.92 percent above its December 2025 level and 34.02 percent higher on a twelve-month average basis.
Main groups moved in different directions
The index for goods and services currently consumed in agriculture fell 1.20 percent from May. By contrast, goods and services contributing to agricultural investment increased 0.93 percent. Compared with the same month a year earlier, those two main groups rose 33.88 percent and 21.49 percent respectively. The split shows that the monthly decline in the overall index did not reflect a uniform fall across every part of agricultural production costs.
Since the end of 2025, prices for goods and services consumed in agriculture increased 17.77 percent, while the investment-related group rose 11.78 percent. On a twelve-month average basis, the respective increases were 35.50 percent and 25.49 percent. Each figure uses a different comparison period, so the monthly, annual and average changes describe separate aspects of the same price data.
Fertiliser recorded the strongest annual increase
Fertilisers and soil improvers posted the largest annual increase among the subgroups, rising 50.99 percent. Other goods and services increased 34.40 percent, animal feeding stuffs 31.86 percent, seeds and planting stock 31.44 percent, and energy and lubricants 31.21 percent. The lowest annual increases were recorded for materials at 20.47 percent and plant protection products at 22.60 percent. TurkStat said nine subgroups rose less than the headline annual rate while two rose more.
The monthly data presented a different pattern. Building maintenance costs increased 3.88 percent and other goods and services rose 1.33 percent. Veterinary expenses fell 3.32 percent, energy and lubricants declined 2.61 percent, and fertilisers and soil improvers dropped 2.10 percent. Animal feeding stuffs decreased 1.44 percent, while seeds and planting stock fell 0.24 percent. The fertiliser category can therefore show the largest annual rise while also recording a monthly decrease, because the calculations compare different periods.
The index level was reported at 998.81 in June. Annual increases were 28.97 percent for buildings, 28.36 percent for building maintenance, 26.51 percent for veterinary expenses and 23.94 percent for machinery maintenance. In the monthly table, plant protection products rose 1.23 percent, buildings 1.00 percent, machinery maintenance 0.93 percent and materials 0.92 percent. These details show that the headline rate combines several input groups moving at different speeds and sometimes in opposite directions.
What the index measures
Agriculture-IPI tracks price changes in goods and services purchased by agricultural producers, including inputs used in current production and items contributing to investment. It does not directly measure retail food prices and, by itself, does not establish a definite path for future consumer prices. The June release shows a limited monthly decline in the broad index alongside costs that remained markedly higher than one year earlier.
TurkStat’s release calendar says the July 2026 Agriculture-IPI bulletin is scheduled for September 21, 2026. That publication will show whether the monthly decline continued and how annual rates changed. For the June figures, the clearest contrast is between the 0.92 percent monthly fall in the headline index and the 50.99 percent annual increase recorded for fertilisers and soil improvers.
