Rockstar Games has announced that “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” will be released on August 27, 2026. According to the official notice, the presentation will premiere on Netflix at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. The same video will become available six hours later, at 9 p.m. ET, through Rockstar Games' official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website.
Netflix receives the first showing
Rockstar's Newswire post dated August 6 confirms a two-stage distribution plan. The Netflix premiere begins on Thursday, August 27 at 3 p.m. ET. Rockstar's YouTube channel and the official game site receive the presentation at 9 p.m. ET. The schedule means that viewers in Türkiye can watch the Netflix premiere at 10 p.m. local time, while the public Rockstar release arrives at 4 a.m. on August 28, based on Eastern Daylight Time.
The Verge and Game Informer reported the same timing from Rockstar's announcement. The confirmed details are therefore limited to the title of the presentation, its date and the channels carrying it. Rockstar has not disclosed the total runtime or a chapter-by-chapter description of the video.
What will the Extended Look contain?
The title suggests a presentation broader than a short teaser, but Rockstar has not said it will be an uninterrupted gameplay demonstration. The company also has not labeled it “Trailer 3.” Reports from GamesRadar and The Verge discuss expectations for new footage, yet the official announcement does not specify which characters, missions, locations or gameplay systems will appear.
That distinction matters because unofficial lists of missions, map details and technical features may circulate before the broadcast. None of those details should be treated as confirmed unless Rockstar includes them in the presentation or publishes separate supporting information. At present, the announcement establishes only that an extended look is coming and that it will follow a two-step release.
Release date and confirmed platforms
Rockstar's official GTA VI page lists November 19, 2026 as the launch date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page does not provide a date for a PC version. Pre-order information is also available through the official site, but the Extended Look notice does not announce another platform or revise the November release date.
The official description centers on Jason and Lucia and their story in the state of Leonida. It is not yet known which part of that story the new presentation will cover. Earlier Rockstar trailers introduced the characters and setting, but the exact scope of the August 27 video will remain uncertain until it is shown.
Why the Netflix window stands out
The six-hour Netflix lead is the most unusual element of the plan. Game Informer confirms that the identical presentation will later reach Rockstar's freely accessible channels. People without a Netflix subscription can therefore watch it through official public sources on the same day, although they will wait six hours after the premiere.
Until August 27, the reliable sources for schedule changes are Rockstar Newswire, the official GTA VI site and Rockstar's YouTube channel. The runtime, the amount of gameplay and any new mechanics remain unannounced, so definitive claims about those points would go beyond the available evidence.
