The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that an investigation had been launched into social media content creator Fatma Soydaş over certain posts published on TikTok and Instagram.
According to the prosecutor’s statement, the posts were assessed under Article 216/3 of the Turkish Penal Code, concerning the alleged public denigration of religious values embraced by a section of society. Authorities said Soydaş was located in Istanbul and that an instruction had been issued for her detention.
Access restrictions imposed on social media accounts
As part of the investigation, a court also ordered access restrictions on the social media accounts linked to the posts under examination. The decision was issued by the Ankara 5th Criminal Judgeship of Peace on July 21, 2026, under case number 2026/8361.
