Fenerbahçe Tarfin won the 2026 FIBA Women’s SuperCup after defeating Çimsa ÇBK Mersin 79-71 in the final. The game was played on October 7 at Servet Tazegül Sports Hall in Mersin, bringing together last season’s EuroLeague Women champion and EuroCup Women winner. Fenerbahçe trailed after the opening quarter but took control before halftime and protected its advantage through the final buzzer.
Mersin started strongly, Fenerbahçe responded
Çimsa ÇBK Mersin, helped by Carla Leite and Kariata Diaby, finished the first quarter with a 21-19 lead. Fenerbahçe then improved its interior play in the second period. Emma Meesseman’s production and a stronger defensive effort allowed the Istanbul club to go into halftime ahead 38-32. According to Fenerbahçe’s official game report, the second quarter ended 19-11 in its favor.
Fenerbahçe extended the margin in the third quarter, with Olcay Çakır Turgut contributing important points. The team entered the final period with a 59-48 lead. Mersin tried to reduce the gap, but Fenerbahçe maintained its offensive rhythm and defensive balance. Mersin won the fourth quarter 23-20, yet Fenerbahçe still completed an eight-point victory.
Meesseman named the game’s MVP
Fenerbahçe said Meesseman was selected as the most valuable player after recording 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Olcay Çakır Turgut led Fenerbahçe in scoring with 16 points, while Alperi Onar and Leila Lacan added 10 each. For Mersin, Leite scored 17, Beren Burke had 14 and Diaby finished with 12.
The quarter scores were 21-19, 11-19, 16-21 and 23-20. That sequence shows how Fenerbahçe’s performance in the second and third quarters shaped the result. Anadolu Agency and beIN Sports independently reported the same final score, venue and quarter-by-quarter progression.
A third SuperCup title for Fenerbahçe
The victory gave Fenerbahçe Tarfin its third FIBA Women’s SuperCup title, following previous triumphs in 2023 and 2024. The club said FIBA Europe president Jorge Garbajosa presented the trophy. Meesseman, meanwhile, collected the sixth FIBA Women’s SuperCup title of her career.
The fact that the final featured two Turkish teams was also significant for Turkish women’s basketball. Fenerbahçe added another continental trophy after winning last season’s EuroLeague Women title. Çimsa ÇBK Mersin reached the SuperCup after lifting the EuroCup Women trophy last season.
A moment of silence was held before the game following the death of Turkish Basketball Federation board member Ali Emre Ballı. Supporters of both clubs attended the match. Hosting the event in Mersin gave the home crowd a rare all-Turkish contest for one of the first major trophies on the European calendar.
The SuperCup is decided in a single game, so the 79-71 result immediately settled the title. For Fenerbahçe, it represented an international trophy at the start of the new season. Mersin remained competitive, particularly in the opening and closing quarters, but the combined 13-point swing across the second and third periods proved decisive.
The result also underlined the recent European strength of both clubs without changing their domestic or continental league standings. It was a standalone trophy match, and no broader season conclusion can be drawn from one game. Still, Fenerbahçe’s ability to respond after falling behind and sustain control through the middle two quarters provided a clear explanation for the final score.
